For more information about your topic,
try a
Google search using specific keywords. |
- Next, you will share your findings with your group using the
online discussion forum in WebCT (or another discussion tool). Go to
the discussion tool and click on the topic link for your group. (In
WebCT, the discussion topic will be called "Culture Shock Webquest
Group #", where "#" is the group number to which you have been assigned. To
see who the other members of your group are, click on the private
link in the topic's status column.) In your group
discussion, do the following.
- Post one initial message summarizing the information
that you found in your role as diagnostician, stage identifier,
or advisor. Use Microsoft Word (or the HTML editor in WebCT
discussions) to organize your notes with bold type, bulleted
lists, and other word processing elements, and attach your file
to the message.
- Read the messages of your group members and
reply to them, making comments, asking questions, or making
suggestions about the content.
- Work together with your group to produce orientation materials
for incoming students who are new to this country.
- Decide which program to use with your group to create
your orientation materials. Here are your choices:
- PowerPoint: create a presentation that you will give at
the orientation session for the new students.
- Word: create a pamphlet or brochure to include in new
students' orientation packets when they arrive.
- Netscape Composer: create a website with the information and
post it to the Internet. New students will be given the Internet
address when they enroll in the school.
(You may use the templates provided with these
programs to get started.)
- Collaborate with your group in person, in the WebCT
discussion, in the WebCT chat room, and/or using instant
messaging or Skype. How your group will actually produce the
final product is up to your group to decide.
